S&G are at it again! We’ve made it our mission this year to raise more money for charity than ever before, and this time we’ve assembled a crack team of keen bike-riders to raise £10,000 for an incredible cause.
The 4-day ride across 4 countries aims to raise funds to help the East Cheshire Hospice care for people suffering from life-limiting illnesses. The hospice needs £3.5 million each year to operate, and S&G hopes to contribute to this through our charity bike ride challenge!
Starting in Calais (France), then passing through Bruges (Belgium), and Maastricht (Netherlands), and finishing up in Cologne (Germany), our riders will travel 444KM in a bid to raise £10,000 for the hospice.
Our fantastic four is made up of Jonathon, Sean, Tom, and Nick who have all been training hard to make sure they’re up to the 444KM challenge.
“This next challenge should be exciting for the team, sponsors, and the charity. I’m most looking forward to completing the challenges and presenting the cheque to the charity knowing that we have supported an extremely worthwhile cause that is helping the local
community,” says supply chain manager Sean, while customer care manager Tom has one major worry ahead of the big day… “concerned about the fact that we organised the route ourselves, hopefully we don’t end up on the autobahn…”
Inhouse vehicle damage engineer Jonathan says he’s “most looking forward to the French coast which is scenic and FLAT. The challenge is for a great charity close to a lot of people around the business so it will be an achievement to raise as much as we can for the hospice,” and operations director Nick has a confidence that is hopefully contagious, telling us, “over the last few years with S&G, I have cycled to Paris and Amsterdam, run the Manchester marathon, completed the Goggins challenge and hit golf balls over 1 million yards. As a result, this seemed like the perfect next test.”
About East Cheshire Hospice
“We put our patients, their carers and families at the centre of everything we do, and our expert medical treatment is only the start of the holistic care we provide,” explains the hospice who offer a home to people suffering life-limiting illness. “Our services range from practical assistance to emotional and spiritual support, as well as social and family services, counselling, complementary therapies and much, much more.”
The hospice is a completely free service for patients and their families, and they only receive 17% of their running costs from the government. They rely on the kind support and donations of individuals and companies who can donate to help keep the hospice running.
The bike ride is taking place July 1st to July 4th and we need your help! Please support us any way you can, by either donating or sharing information about the challenge to support our superheroes!
