When it comes to our staff and teams, happiness is the most important thing. We know that valuing each one of our employees is the key to our success and our team is the reason for the growth we’ve continued to see, even through challenging times. As Richard Branson once said, “Clients do not come first. Employees come first. If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the clients.” Well, couldn’t agree more, and our company culture and investment in people is at the heart of everything we do, making us an amazing company to work for, and to work with.
Learning & development
Richard Branson also said, “train employees well enough so they can leave, but treat them well enough so they don’t want to.” At S&G, L&D is paramount to our team’s success in providing the best possible journey for our customers.
Each new member of staff undertakes extensive on-boarding, and we continue to support professional qualifications using our in-house training programmes and external workshops to further our employees’ knowledge. Our goal is to have an entire workforce who thinks outside the box and become advocates of change, who challenge existing processes and help us continue to improve and thrive.
Due to our ongoing work to ensure total employee satisfaction, we have been awarded the Investors in People Gold Standard until 2024 as well as being rated in The Sunday Times’ Best Companies to work for in the Northwest. We think we can safely say we’re doing something right.
Reward and recognition
We know how hard our team work and we also know that they deserve to be recognised for it. As well as monthly one-to-one sessions with every employee in the company, we give out employee value awards as well as regular shout outs for jobs well done. We are proud of our team, and we think companywide celebrations are good for everyone.
Having fun with the team
We believe that all work and no play can lead to boredom, burnout, and a serious case of the workplace blues so we make sure our calendar is full of social and charity events that we know our team will love. From sponsored bike rides and exercise clubs to meals out and parties, we always try to add a little fun wherever we can.

We do what we do because it works. Our continued investment in people and mission to accomplish companywide staff happiness is what drives the machine forward and keeps our customers loyal, and customer satisfaction is, of course, the goal of any business.
