I joined S&G in 2014 on an apprenticeship path doing Level 2 Business Admin, I saw an apprenticeship as a learning path whilst I was earning a salary. The team I was aiming to join was Finance and within 6 months of joining I was lucky enough to be interviewed for and I joined the team, continuing with my apprenticeship. I then received further support and went on to complete levels 2 and 3 in AAT.
I then left the business thinking I was making the right move to gain a higher salary but just didn’t enjoy the role and returned to S&G a year later as a Claims Handler to gain more knowledge across the business.

During my second time at S&G I have become a mother and have a beautiful little girl called Inayah. Whilst I was on maternity leave both my colleagues and the business fully supported me by keeping in touch and inviting me to any events that were happening although these were very limited due to COVID restrictions.
I was able to take full advantage of 12 months maternity leave, which meant precious time with my daughter. As the year was ending, I was quite anxious to leave Inayah and return to work, but S&G Response allowed me to reduce my hours to part time and as soon as I returned, I was welcomed back by a lot of old friends and new faces.
I now feel like I’ve found a nice work/life balance and quite enjoy the changes in my days. If you work for a great company who supports you to reach the right work/life balance you can have the best of both worlds!

I joined S&G as a very different individual to who I am today, in 2017 I reverted to Islam and this has always been supported by the business whether it’s taking a short break to pray or halal food being provided at work events. There are no barriers, no judgements and I feel completely comfortable and accepted by all.
S&G have always encouraged me to grow my knowledge of the business providing cross departmental training, they encourage individual growth along with providing support both on a personal and company basis.
I believe S&G is a great place to work and would recommend anybody to join the team!
